The Astellas Oncology C3 Prize® is a global challenge to inspire and support innovative ideas aimed at changing cancer care for patients and caregivers. After receiving more than 100 entries from 15 countries last year (with two of the top five finalists from Canada), Astellas Oncology is once again calling for applicants from all backgrounds to share ideas to improve areas such as care coordination, adherence, treatment navigation and survivorship.
Last year’s ideas from Canada included a light therapy device to reduce fatigue and potentially increase quality of life for cancer patients undergoing treatment and an idea for a web-based application that would leverage a patient or caregiver’s social media networks to secure transportation to and from cancer treatment.
Following a live Dragons’ Den-style pitch at the Union for International Cancer Control World Cancer Leaders’ Summit in Mexico City on November 13th, one grand prize winner will receive a $50,000 grant from Astellas and a personal consultation session from Robert Herjavec, technology entrepreneur, star of ABC’s Emmy Award-winning hit television show Shark Tank, ex-dragon on CBC’s Dragons’ Den and cancer caregiver. Four runners up will each receive $12,500 and all the finalists will receive a one-year nights and weekends membership to MATTER, a Chicago-based healthcare innovation community, to help bring their ideas to life.
We believe a member from your community could come up with the next big innovation in cancer care that could improve the lives of cancer patients, their caregivers or their families. We encourage you to share the attached postcard and fact sheet, and encourage members of your community to learn more and submit an idea at www.C3Prize.com. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. CST on August 21st. You do not need to have a business or finished product in order to apply.
