More than 25 local professionals attended the 60 Tips in 60 Minutes presentation at rtraction’s marketing pop-up clinic on Thursday at Hacker Studios.
Four team members from rtraction, an IT and web development company in London, walked the group of startup and other business professionals through the dos and don’ts of marketing and web best practice.
The presentation was short but direct, and highlighted simple solutions to problems that many small companies face when launching or refreshing their websites.
“The Pop-Up Marketing Clinic is our opportunity to get out into the community and share ideas in a casual environment,” said Rachel Berdan, rtraction’s Director of Sales and one of the session’s presenters. “If each person who sat down with us or saw our presentation left the building with one idea that they could apply to their work, then the event was a huge success.”
One tip challenged participants to think of moving a website like moving your house. When you move you don’t keep your Halloween costume from two years ago, you maybe upgrade a few pieces of furniture and you might invest in new curtains for your windows. With your website, you aren’t always going to migrate all of your content and take everything with you, you are probably going to want to invest in some new components, and you might also look at adding content where needed.
Like the moving analogy for web migration, the tips all had nuggets of advice that would help a seasoned web veteran reflect on past experiences and find improvements to use going forward, as well as basic how-tos for rookies.
The team spent the rest of the day meeting one-on-one with individuals to provide advice and trouble shooting.
“The bonus for us is that we get to meet brilliant people who are doing great work in London,” said Berdan.
