Recognizing these challenges, Northern Commerce approached Humane Society London & Middlesex (HSLM) to form a charitable partnership through their Northern Cares initiative to help HSLM rebrand and improve their marketing efforts. Northern committed over $150,000 worth of digital services for a complete digital transformation including a comprehensive redesign of the HSLM logo, brand identity, website, and marketing assets.
Northern Commerce has been awarded the 2020 Animal Welfare Leadership and Innovation Award from Humane Canada for Outstanding Corporate Partnership for its work with HSLM. “We are honoured to receive this award and to see the impact that our partnership with HSLM had on helping improve the lives of animals in need,” said Michael DeLorenzi, President of Northern Commerce.
HSLM provides shelter and care to over 2,000 surrendered animals each year and helps them find their forever homes without ever euthanizing to create more space. “Partnering with Northern allowed us to update our branding and expand our online presence to increase donations and awareness within the community around the great work that we do,” said Steve Ryall, Executive Director, HSLM.
In the last year, HSLM was able to reach a greater number of individuals in the community and beyond as a result of the brand refresh and stronger online presence from Northern. From the new social campaigns, HSLM welcomed over 1,200 more visitors in the shelter and saw a 25% increase in sign-ups for their PAW monthly donor program. Through their education initiatives, nearly 300 fewer animals were surrendered—a number HSLM never thought would be possible.
