The tbk Women in Tech Scholarship pays for the first-year tuition of a woman entering Fanshawe College’s Interactive Media Design program based at the School of Digital and Performing Arts (Dundas Street, Downtown London Campus).
The Scholarship was created in 2019 by tbk as a means to encourage more women to become developers, which in turn will close the industry’s skills gap, and make Canada more competitive in a global digital economy.
I couldn’t be prouder to have the tbk Women in Tech Scholarship within our school, and specifically, within the Interactive Media Design program, I’m grateful for tbk for being the benefactor of this important award and showing the value of women in the tech industry.
Michelle Giroux, Associate Dean, Fanshawe College, School of Digital and Performing Arts
The tbk Women in Tech Scholarship is an excellent way of encouraging more women to enroll into programs like Interactive Media Design. We want to see an equal work force out there and this scholarship is a step in that direction. And I’d like to congratulate Victoria on winning the Award! It’s a privilege to have you in the classroom and as a student at Fanshawe College.
ustin Brunner, Coordinator and Professor, Fanshawe College, Interactive Media Design and 3D Visualization
I want to personally congratulate you, Victoria, on receiving the 2020 tbk Women in Tech Scholarship! We need a lot of programmers in the world right now, both male and female, but there is certainly a lack of diversity. We think it’s better for our society, and economy, if more women are represented at the table and involved in the development of client software and products.
Melissa McInerney, CEO & Chief Creative Officer, tbk
It meant that I got to be recognized for the work that I put in in high school and recognized for the sorts of things that I enjoy doing and learning about, I’d like to thank tbk for the opportunity to be the recipient of the scholarship. It’s going to help me pay for college which is a big deal and it’s going to be on my record now so that’s going to help me a lot in the future.
