Have you met CARL?

CARL is a patient simulator designed by Robert Koch, founder of AHead Simulations, to provide hearing loss healthcare providers with safe and realistic experiential learning, and better outcomes for their patients.
But in response to COVID-19, CARL is helping out on the frontlines in a whole new way.
With nasal swabs emerging as a key testing tool in the next phase of the COVID-19 recovery, Koch has modified CARL to help improve the quality of those tests.
“As COVID-19 testing expands, there’s a need to rapidly and efficiently train new workers how best to perform nasal swabs,” explains Koch. “We’ve been able to assist in clinician training within audiology, and we are continuing to hear this need for standardized training to reduce the uncertainty of testing for COVID-19.”
“For our region to fully recover from COVID-19, were going to need swift-thinking entrepreneurs like Robert,” says Christina Fox, CEO of TechAlliance. “Not only is his new nasal swab simulator a great example of how innovators can quickly shift gears, but it will also have a significant impact on helping our stores, services, and community locations get back to business.”
By training with CARL, test providers (who will likely have less medical experience as testing scales) can receive immediate and effective feedback, helping to improve their technique and ensure that the quantity and quality of testing will remain high. Connect with AHead Simulations to learn more about how CARL can help you train your workforce to test for COVID-19.
Koch and CARL are part of our amazing community of innovators who have launched or revamped projects to keep our families, teams, customers, and neighbourhoods safer and healthier during these challenging times.
