Here at the TechAlliance office, the holiday spirit is buzzing. Between our lunch-time tree-trimming and cocoa, Jen’s Elf on the Shelf stories, and overall excitement for our Holiday Mixer next week, our staff team are definitely getting into the festive spirit.
As we start to get closer to the holidays, I’m reminded of all the wonderful techie people in my life that I am thankful for – including the folks at our member companies that I get to work with all year long.
With all of you in mind, I decided to pull together a list of my 5 favourite tech-themed holiday gifts.
Makey Makey
Makey Makey kits are Arduino-based devices that let you turn anything – including fruits, vegetables and the human body – into a computer key. Use bananas to play a piano app. Use potatoes to play Tetris. This kit is a great adventure in learning and discovery, and we used it at BIOlympics this year.
Classic video game controller ornament set
Looking for unique decorations to spruce up your tech-based office space? Check out this ornament set that includes miniature replicas of your favourite retro video game consoles. The developers, gamers and geeks on your list will thank you!
Retro portable NES/SNES game system
While you’re getting nostalgic over your new ornaments, use this portable game system to bring your retro games back to life. Compatible with NES and SNES cartridges, sneak this one into the awkward family get-together when you need a bit of a break from crazy Uncle Larry.
The best ugly Christmas sweater ever
Be the star of your office’s annual ugly sweater party. This sweater features a front-loading compartment for your smartphone. Download the companion app and your tacky fireplace knit will digitally roar to life with actual fireplace animations.
Tickets to the TechAlliance Holiday Mixer
At the end of the day, there is no better gift than good company. Grab an extra ticket for your colleague and bring them along to our Holiday Mixer on December 12. Join us as we celebrate the success we have all shared over the past year.
