EXAR Studios is launching the Immersive Aging Project, a pilot project in collaboration with the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex to bring Virtual Reality to the Minds in Motion and Memory Cafe programs.
EXAR will also be providing free Virtual Reality (VR) experiences for interested retirement and long term care communities, accepting donations for the Alzheimer Society, and raising awareness around Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mobility and cognitive functioning can be barriers to profound life experiences. But through VR, visiting beautiful beaches, immersion in a symphonic orchestra, or interacting with cute marine animals can become possible.
Through the program, EXAR will be educating on applied neuroscience and Virtual Reality in therapeutic recreation as part of a healthy aging strategy.
The initiative begins Wednesday January 29.
Interested retirement living, long term care communities, and day programs can participate by contacting Ben Switzer – ben@exarstudios.com or visiting www.expandyourcare.com. To donate, visit www.alzheimerlondon.ca.
