This morning I asked my 3 ½ year old daughter Maya for a funny way for Daddy to say goodbye at work, and she said “just use my Elsa cape Daddy, and run away to the North Mountain”. I seriously considered it for a minute, which made me realize I’m not the best at goodbyes… fortunately, the cape doesn’t match my dress pants so I dismissed it from the list of options.
Four years has come and gone, and it’s been a blast. Thank you to all of the wonderful people I have met during my time at TechAlliance. To the amazing team I will be leaving – you rock! Thank you for teaching me so much the past few years, and allowing me to thrive in a creative and flexible work environment.
Thank you also to our institutional partners, the grassroots tech community, and the industry leaders who all give back so much to this great place city we call home. I’m proud to have known and worked with so many passionate and capable people and organizations. Most of all thank you to all of the entrepreneurs, for your passion and enthusiasm, and for inspiring me every day I walked into the office. The future of this region is in your hands, and I for one think we are in great shape.
On that note, I will leave you with one of my all-time favourite quotes. It’s served me well in both my personal and professional life, and is something I try to remind myself each day.
There is a world of difference between doing something today, and planning to do it tomorrow.
Ian’s last day at TechAlliance will be Friday, August 22. We wish him all the best in his new adventure as the Director of Student Entrepreneurship at Western University and Fanshawe College.
