Last week, the newly launched Hacking Health London initiative hosted its very first Café event.
More than 70 health care professionals, developers, entrepreneurs, patients and other stakeholders gathered at the networking event to discuss their ideas for improving health care in London.
The event featured Guest “Inspirer” Dr. Chris Mackie the Chief Medical Officer of Health and CEO of the Middlesex-London Health Unit. Dr. Mackie spoke to the history of public health in the region, and pressed attendees on the importance of leveraging grassroots innovation to improve the overall health of the community.
The Café events are designed to connect diverse members of the community to ultimately collaborate on a project or idea. Teams can connect outside of events over the online Sparkboard tool.
Hacking health will use future events to host pitch competitions and lead into a hackathon where teams compete against each other for prizes that will include cash and business supports.
The next Hacking Health Café will be held in the new year.
