Hey London,
I’m looking forward to helping your business grow. Ok, so it might be a bit cheesy to borrow straight from a TechAlliance tagline, but that’s exactly what gets me jazzed up. If I can make a connection, help you find funding, or set you on the right path for business success, then it’s been a good day.
My name is Jeremy Ward, and I’m the new Digital and ICT Business Analyst at Techalliance.
I come from humble beginnings as an entrepreneur. During my undergrad at Western University, I started a business with a few friends. We wanted to build a social network to connect people in the music industry. This was at a time when Facebook was becoming a household name, and LinkedIn existed but nobody was taking it seriously yet. We raised a whopping $17,000 to build our site, but spent most of it in wireframing. I wish we had a mentor to tell us about the concept of a minimum viable product.
With no money left in the bank, we disbanded and went our separate ways. It wasn’t a complete loss; even today I still consider it to be the best tuition I ever paid. Don’t get me wrong, formal education is incredibly valuable, but experience is a trump card.
I went out west for my MBA, specializing in entrepreneurship at the University of Victoria. It was a life changing experience. I had several mentors from the business community in Victoria who had a huge impact. I had the pleasure of joining a startup as an intern, and learned a lot about bootstrapping (you can also ask me about Mitacs applications).
Since then I have been involved with a variety of startups in many different capacities: from strategic planning, to market research, and even cold call sales. For the past few years my career has been in IT project management and sales. I wouldn’t consider myself to be technical by any means, but I have the experience to speak to IT projects from a high level.
Whether you’re a pre-revenue startup, or an existing business looking to grow, I look forward to working with you to enable your business!
Jeremy
