Simalam will be helping Londoners find something to do in our city when they develop and release their first community App-in-a-Snap live at the Southwest Business Expo on June 11.
Followers of the #LdnOnt hashtag on Twitter were asked to choose which of three social apps the community needed most.
- What’s for Lunch? – A hyper-local (think East Village or Wortley) app that helps you choose what to eat for lunch that day.
- Activity Finder – Want to get into the great outdoors and connect with other active people? This app will let you find pick-up games (e.g. hockey, volleyball, etc.) in your neighbourhood or around the city.
- Our Night Out – No idea what’s going on in London tonight? Tomorrow? We’ll help you find something to do – there’s always something great happening in London!
Voters overwhelmingly gave support for Our Night Out – an app that gives Londoners a single source of events happening in the city – from intimate art shows, to major concerts and sporting events.
The Simalam team are putting themselves in the proverbial fi sh bowl at the Southwest Business Expo (June 11, Western Fair District), where they’ll be asking attendees to beta-test and implementing suggestions for the app in real-time.
“We’re all transplants”, says Adam Malamis, Creative Director of Simalam, “and we’ve chosen to build our lives in London. There’s so much going on in London that people don’t know about, and we can use our talents in digital [media] to help get people out there and involved.”
“It’s an excellent example of an innovative company combining fundamental business practices principles with digital media” says Gerry McCartney, President, London of Chamber of Commerce.
If you’d like to be a part of the beta-test and launch, you can register for Southwest at www.londonchamber.com.
