DIBZ has been a well-known name in the London innovation space for some time now, with Founder and CEO, Brennon D’Souza actively investing in our region’s startups through mentorship via TechAlliance’s GROW Accelerator and a seat on TechAlliance’s Board of Directors. Now, D’Souza is taking DIBZ to another level, sitting in the front-row-seat of sports and entertainment innovation in his recent acceptance into the Future of Sport Lab (FSL) incubator. FSL is an integrated academic partnership between Toronto Met and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. Launched in 2018 with a history as one of the first of its kind in North America, they are Canada’s global leader in sport innovation and support Canadian sport startups as they expand.
In recognition of their innovative work in athlete performance, DIBZ has been selected as one of eight of the SportTech startups receiving immersive programming in partnership with the Ted Rogers School of Management and world leading business incubator the DMZ, allowing access to leading academics and an opportunity to engage and receive mentorship from leaders across Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and the greater Future of Sport Lab network.
“We are thrilled to welcome a dynamic group of entrepreneurs to the MLSE ecosystem through the Future of Sport Lab,” said Sumit Arora, Vice President Strategy & Analytics, MLSE. “The incubator provides early-stage companies unparalleled opportunity to access our organization, our venues, professional sports teams and MLSE Digital Labs for mentorship, leadership and collaboration opportunities. We are excited to see what they have in store this year.”
This recent news comes as no surprise, as the expansion of DIBZ has surpassed imaginable speeds and the popularity of the technology grew with their recent partnership with Atlanta Braves of Major League baseball and game-changing deal with U.S. telecommunications giant, Comcast. DIBZ continues making waves (the one you do at sports games with your hands in the air, not the ocean) in the sports tech industry with an innovation that fans both want and need. Providing a real-time seat upgrade solution for event venues with unsold seats, DIBZ technology enables fans to access upgrades at low costs or buy event tickets on the spot using QR codes and text messaging.
This dream tech for last minute ticket buyers is at the peak of its possibilities, with North American expansion brewing and sports fans heading back to in-person games, DIBZ will see expected success through the course of this acclaimed incubator program. Although the accelerator itself is not a sport or competition, just know that London locals are cheering on our hometown team at DIBZ.
