Tom Germain has been a programmer for 35 years, and a freelancer for the last 20, handling accounts for companies in the USA, Canada, Israel and Europe. Upon returning to live in Canada recently, he decided that networking with other skilled local freelance programmers and designers to form a pseudo-company would be the best way to build a large portfolio of new clients, including larger companies that would not typically hire lone consultants.

This is rather unique project in that it answers a need among freelancer ITs (having a support network), while providing a much more affordable alternative to businesses than the traditional dev companies or in-house tech department, as well as a more reliable option to dealing with individual freelancers. The Cooperative will also act as the conduit for recent grads to gain work experience and establish their credentials.
