David Muir earned his B.Sc and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario, in London Canada, with his doctoral research focussed in synthetic organic chemistry. He conducted his postdoctoral fellowship with the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada in the field of natural product chemistry.
Dr. Muir started his industrial career in a contract analytical laboratory in Toronto, Canada with experience in pharmaceutical bioanalysis, air sampling and vehicle emission research on alternative fuels. David then joined 3M Canada in London, Canada in 1996 as a Research and Development Chemist. He gained extensive technical and management experience in a number of industrial sectors in R+D, product development and technical services, before moving into business development and business management roles within the Healthcare sector. David served as Integration Manager for the acquisition of a Canadian company, in which he held senior level management responsibilities in Operations, Finance, R&D, HR, Quality and Regulatory Compliance. David served as Business Manager for 3M Canada’s Food Safety and Infection Prevention Divisions with responsibility for business unit performance.
Dr. Muir joined the National Research Council in July 2015 as Director of R+D for the London, Ontario facility within NRC’s Automotive and Surface Transportation portfolio.
