1. What is your role and what is your favorite part of your job?
I look after sales and marketing primarily, and my favourite part of the job is enabling customers. Water treatment gets pretty technical, and t’s really rewarding to help a customer understand the nature of their water issue, and help them to proceed confidently in deciding what products to buy.
2. If you could have coffee with any business leader or industry expert, who would you choose, and why?
There’s no one person that comes to mind immediately. I’d truly be interested to chat with anybody who’s taken an idea, and manifest into something big and great in the ‘real world’. I’d want to know how they overcame the hurdles that face any growing business.
3. What is the #1 business book/blog/website you would recommend?
I recommend lots of books, but the one that comes up the most often is The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. I love it because it’s not new, but the concepts are timeless. A must-read for any entrepreneur struggling to grow their business. I also just read Storyscaping and it blew my mind a little – a great read for anybody who has something to sell.
4. Looking at your company’s future, what are you most enthusiastic about?
I’m really excited that this business exists at the crossroads of water & digital – two growth sectors. I’m also really excited that the structure of this business allows pretty rapid international expansion. We’ve just launched aquatell.com.au and we’ll see how that experiment goes!
5. What excites you most about the local tech community?
What excites me most about tech in London, is that I believe the city offers a great recipe for budding digital entrepreneurs. London is a cheap place to live for the quality and quantity of amenities and services it offers. It’s any easy place to live, and it seems like the perfect launching pad for businesses that aren’t bound by physical goods. Build it here, and take over the world!
