The Member Spotlight is a monthly opportunity to learn more about a leader, innovator or entrepreneur in the tech community. This month, we spotlight Larry Lau of ATMOS Marketing.
What is your mobile device of choice, and why?
My mobile device of choice is an iPhone 5. I’m an Apple fanboy, for work or personal, everything is Apple. With that said, my iPhone 5 works well with all of my other Apple and Mac products/programs. I really like Apple because they are high quality, cutting-edge, well branded and just a fun and successful company.
Who do you look to for inspiration, in business or your personal life?
For business or my personal life, I often seek inspiration from peers, entrepreneurs and business professionals whenever I get a chance to pick their brain. From when we first started until now, I am a sponge when I get to hear other individuals talk about their life experiences, challenges and successes. I am thankful for the individuals who have openly shared their own stories with me, which have helped me make better decisions along the way.
What is the #1 business book you would recommend?
I don’t read a lot of business books but I often read a lot business blogs and articles like Inc. or Canadian Business. However, a business book I would recommend that I recently read (in just 3 days) is Cold Hard Truthby Kevin O’Leary. I am a big fan of the Dragon’s Den and it was very interesting to read about his life journey. He also makes some very bold statements that really makes you think, whether or not you agree.
What keeps you up at night?
West Coast NBA basketball games or sometimes project deadlines!
Looking at your company’s future, what are you most enthusiastic about?
Everything. The opportunity to work with more clients, seek new challenges, meet new people, grow our team, the list goes on. Most importantly, it’s all fun.
What causes/community involvement/corporate social responsibility efforts are your company involved in?
Myself, personally, I am on the Board of Directors for the Chinese Canadian National Council in London. I am an avid volunteer for London’s Children Museum and also serve as a Mentor to a 3rd year business student at Western University. As for ATMOS, we offer in-kind services to local non-profit organizations and also run an internship program to give students the chance to acquire applicable experiences in digital marketing.
