Title: Community Manager
What is your role and what is your favourite part of your job?
I’m the Community Manager. I work with employees across our organization to develop, maintain and enhance and our company culture – one that promotes collaboration, creativity and personal growth. My favorite part of my job is rewarding and recognizing members of our team who go above and beyond and working with others to harness their talent to achieve their goals.
If you could have coffee with any business leader or industry expert, who would you choose, and why?
Stacy Sullivan, the VP, People Operations & Chief Culture Officer at Google. When you think of organizations that really understand the importance of workplace culture and providing an incredible employee experience, Google likely comes to mind. Stacy has been with Google for close to 20 years. I would love to chat about what’s changed over the years, what worked, what didn’t work and really absorb as much advice as possible – she’s a pro.
What is the #1 business book/blog/website you would recommend?
I have a folder with about 20 bookmarked blogs/websites that I try to skim through on a regular basis. If I had to pick one however I’d say FastCompany would be my go-to. I actually subscribed to the print magazine just over a year ago – whenever it comes in the mail I make a point of reading it cover to cover. I work in the digital space, yet I really look forward to getting the physical copy in my hands.
Looking at your company’s future, what are you most enthusiastic about?
Growth. This past November we moved into a new 30,000 SQ/ft. office. One of our biggest challenges in the past was space and not having enough room for our employees. Overall we were delivering on a great employee experience but our previous office space didn’t represent who we were as a company. We thrive when we collaborate , and work together as a team. Our old space had our team separated into several rooms and in different buildings. Our new office was designed specifically for us and the type of work we do. With the new space we have room to add more members to our team and tackle larger projects.
What excites you most about the local tech community?
There are more eyes on our local tech community now. In the past 5 years years not only have we seen the city become more engaged in our community but the country as well. There are a lot of eyes on the London tech community and I don’t see this stopping anytime soon.
What causes or community activities is your company involved in?
We work with several organizations and charities by providing them with web and digital marketing services. Locally, we are also proud sponsors of the London Lightning basketball team. We are actually working on a special project with them right now to support the London Humane Society. We’ve hosted events at our office with Ladies That UX and Women In Tech, we really enjoy working with the community whenever we can.
