What is your role and what is the favourite part of your job?
As the owner of a start-up, I do a lot of different things, but in the end I find it all boils down to helping people achieve their goals which also happens to be my favorite part of the job. I’ve been able to relieve a lot of stress for TalkMotion clients and I count myself lucky, because my I am continuously able to offer something meaningful on a personal level as an additional result.
If you could have a coffee with any business leader or industry expert who would you choose and why?
I would love to sit and chat with Steven Spielberg!
I can’t think of one movie he’s helped create that didn’t turn out influential or completely captivating. He’s proven that he knows how to bring the best out of the people he works with again and again. and that’s a tremendous achievement for anyone.
There’s also the added bonus that his industry is both is similar and completely different from the video marketing industry so there would be a lot of space for new ideas to flourish.
He’s always been a strong influence for me.
What is the number one business book or blog you would recommend?
You’re gett’n all 3 + 1 for this one.
Book: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell – Not necessarily a business book, but contains a lot of lessons that can be applied to business life.
Blog: www.trulysocial.ca – The content at Truly Social is always relevant for digital marketing and entertaining.
Website: www.greyscalegorilla.com – This is very niche, I warn you now. These guys have been heros in the motion graphics industry for years and to me personally they have also been really good business role models as well.
Podcast: Video Marketing Master with Todd Hartley – This is a great listen. There’s all kinds of little gems that pop up in this show.
Looking at your companies future what are you most enthusiastic about?
I am most excited to see the team grow. I always wanted to make the business a place where people are valued and respected. TalkMotion has recently reached a milestone where the first paid internship has been filled by a very active young man named Brian. I am very proud of where TalkMotion is today and can’t wait to see it reach it’s full potential.
What excites you most about the local tech community?
There are so many brilliant ideas flourishing in our own city of London. I am always surprised to hear about the next success story and excited for when I can see their success first hand. There’s also a lot of really genuine concern and thoughtful people in the local tech community as well which is really nice to see and be part of.
What causes or community activities is your company involved in?
TalkMotion is currently looking for opportunities to help the London community thrive and welcomes any and all invitations to help out!
