Thread is a creative agency which specializes in the creation of digital identities, tools and strategies for creative organizations and smart cities.
What is your role and what is your favorite part of your job?
Primarily UX (user experience) design. I ensure a product or service works intuitively for people and overcomes real world challenges.
If you could have coffee with any business leader or industry expert, who would you choose, and why?
Any one of the directors at the architectural firm Grant Associates. I admire their ecological (systems) approach to architecture. I would want to pick their brains about how their team’s design process works.
What is the #1 business book/blog/website you would recommend?
For anyone looking to get into the tech industry I would recommend news.ycombinator.com. It’s the best aggregation of tech development/industry news there is.
Looking at your company’s future, what are you most enthusiastic about?
I’m excited about the tremendous potential that smart strategies and technologies pose for the future of our organizations and cities. I believe we can all become better adept at meeting the social, political and economic needs of almost all people.
What excites you most about the local tech community?
The number of divergent opinions – it makes for healthy debate.
What causes or community activities is your company involved in?
We have contributed our time and resources to a few local community projects, most notably, LondonFuse.ca, a portal for the local creative community.
