What is your role and what is your favorite part of your job?
I am the Communication Manager at Western Continuing Studies. Picking just one favourite part is really difficult, I love being creative, or having a problem to solve, and putting on my strategic hat and creating a plan. Probably the most rewarding element is the opportunities to learn, whether it’s a new technology, industry trend or popping into our classrooms.
If you could have coffee with any business leader or industry expert, who would you choose, and why?
My inner designer and creative side would pick Jony Ive or Sir Jony Ive, the Chief Design Officer and Apple. I would also love to have coffee with Sheryl Sandberg and learn about her professional journey.
What is the #1 business book/blog/website you would recommend?
Start with Why by Simon Sinek, the Harvard Business Review hbr.org and TedTalks for inspiration.
Looking at your company’s future, what are you most enthusiastic about?
Our growth and opportunities. It has never been more important to be continuously learning. Being able to provide relevant learning opportunities, new programs and courses that meet the needs of our students is incredible exciting!
What excites you most about the local tech community?
For a city of our size we have an incredible thriving technology community. They bring innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit to the city.
What causes or community activities is your company involved in?
As part of the Western Community we support a number of local charities and non-profit organizations including:
- Pillar
- United Way
- London Food Bank
- Big Bike Ride for the Heart and Stroke Foundation
