Name: Kyle Vergeer
Title: Commercial Manager
At WinAir, we are proud to supply an industry leading software solution to the aviation maintenance community. We like to say that we provide much more than just a software tool; that we enable organizations to stay compliant with aviation regulations and provide them with the efficiency gains of adopting industry best practices.
We started as AV-BASE Systems, Inc., in 1988, and are now celebrating our 30th year in business. Due to the success of the product, and the recognition that it has received throughout the industry, we now operate the business under the product’s name of “WinAir.”
We strive to not only produce the best aviation management software available on the market, but also to create a work environment that enables the success of our staff.
What is your role and what is your favorite part of your job?
Spending time in various roles at the WinAir has empowered me to take on a management role within the organization. As the Commercial Manager, I am responsible for company growth and stability, which means I am involved in product design, corporate direction and leadership, as well as top level client management.
The favorite part of my job is to work with the members of our team so that they can eventually meet with our users to identify their needs, and in the end, direct the improvement of our product to satisfy those needs.
If you could have a coffee with any business leader or industry expert who would you choose and why?
I would have coffee with Elon Musk. I appreciate his ability to take on and lead as many initiatives as he does. I would be interested to find out how he allocates his time to various projects with such different end-goals.
What is the number one business book or blog you would recommend?
I would recommend a book called “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey. When you have as much going on as we do at WinAir, it is important to develop skills and behaviors to focus on the right thing at the right time.
Looking at your companies future what are you most enthusiastic about?
Having a mature solution and an established client-base, positions us well to scale up. Our product is undergoing continued development with a renewed focus on new, innovative features and enhanced functionality that is typically desired by larger prospects.
What excites you most about the local tech community?
As we continue to realize our growth targets, finding talented individuals is paramount. It is exciting to know that London has a focus and desire to ensure that tech companies like ours are successful. We have noticed an increase in the quality of the recruitment candidates, which proves to me that the community’s efforts to attract tech talent are on the right path.
What causes or community activities is your company involved in?
Over the years, we have supported numerous clubs and charitable organizations in and around the city. We have taken part in canned food drives, local and national fundraisers, and have donated to a variety of staff-championed causes. Recently, we adopted a park on behalf of the company and have coordinated events to facilitate regular park clean-ups. We have also organized a foam team run to benefit The Children’s Miracle Network and have sponsored a WinAir employee team at the Forest City Sport & Social Club.
