Recognizing the potential that London’s innovation ecosystem holds, the Globe and Mail’s fifth annual ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies 2023 lists two scaled companies. Fintech venture, Paystone and tech-enabled waste management company, Waste Solutions Canada, ranked #389 and #200 respectively among 425 high-potential businesses.

Launched in 2019, The Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies List is an editorial ranking that aims to bring the accomplishments of innovative businesses in Canada to the forefront. Involving a detailed method, companies have to complete an in-depth application process including a survey supported by financial documentation. The companies are evaluated based on their most recent fiscal year’s performance, where they are expected to have at least $2 million in annual sales. This exhaustive list includes companies from various industries and sectors and the ventures on the list have one thing in common – a staggering three-year growth rate.

Featured as a scaling company on other globally recognized lists, fintech company Paystone is a leading North American software company that provides a seamlessly integrated suite of automated payment processing, customer loyalty, gift card solutions, and reputation marketing to help merchants turn meaningful interactions into opportunities for growth. Led by Tarique-Al-Ansari, Paystone stands to be one of the fastest growing companies working with notable companies such as Irving Oil, The Source, Global Pet Foods, Kernels Popcorn, and many of the MTY Food Group’s restaurant brands.

Waste Solutions Canada has spent more than 15 years innovating for impact on business and environment. Leveraging buying power, innovative technology, and national resources, they deliver credible data and cost reduction solutions to help businesses optimize their waste solutions. Soaring during 2018 due to the introduction of their new software, the company went on to build a new technology that helped companies with real-time data on their carbon impact. With explosive sales and a three-fold increase in its workforce, Waste Solutions proves to be another Canadian unicorn-in-the-making.
