Discovery’s Investor Pitch Competition offers entrepreneurs of all ages an invaluable opportunity for a face-to-face with leading VC’s and angel investors to deliver a compelling overview of your investment-ready company in 15 minutes or less. Capture their attention, advice, and get a chance to win $10,000 cash plus $10,000 in professional services for best pitch.
How the Award Works
One winner receives $10,000 cash and $10,000 in professional services to assist in scaling their investment-ready company.
The professional services package, provided by Dentons Canada LLP, will cover:
- Incorporation documents and organization checklist
- Initial company documents, such as shareholders agreement and stock option agreement
- Standard HR policies
- Employment and contractor agreements
- Board-related documents
- Initial financing documents
- Other commercial and operating documents, such as non-disclosure and service agreements
How to Apply
To enter, please complete and submit a business plan summary to Martin Croteau no later than Friday, April 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Your submission should address the four aspects outlined in this guide.

Entries are evaluated by OCE staff based on the four aspects of the business plan summary.The top five finalists will be invited to make a 15-minute presentation to a panel of investors at Discovery 14, followed by a 10-minute question and answer period with the panel. Finalists are evaluated on style (overall quality of the investment pitch) and content (four aspects of the business plan summary).
The panel will choose the winner of the contest who will be presented with the award at the Discovery luncheon on May 13, 2014.
