The deadline to register for the Proteus Innovation Competition closed on December 18th, and we’re thrilled to report that the final numbers total 96 contestants spread over 30 teams. We’re very excited about the five amazing technologies that the contestants will be developing, and are eager to see how the course of the competition plays out. The next stage of the competition will commence February 11th, with the second workshop, followed by pitches on February 25th.
“We’re incredibly pleased with the enthusiasm surrounding the competition,” said Justin Leushner, VP of Operations at TechAlliance. “Along with our partners at WORLDiscoveries, Propel, Leap Junction, and The Research Park we hope that the competition will continue to foster innovation and collaboration in the region, as well as continue to attract our great sponsors who have supported this initiative. At the end of the day, it’s these partnerships that will lead to entrepreneurship, company formation, revenue generation, and job creation.”
Officially launched on 4 November 2015, the Proteus Innovation Competition is a four-month competition that will challenge individuals to create a viable commercialization strategy for 1 of 5 promising technologies, in hopes of winning a cash prize of up to $10,000.
This three part competition allows contestants to hone their business skills, work with a variety of experienced advisors, and accelerate the commercialization process on discoveries coming out of London’s top institutions.
Prize winners will also have the opportunity to license the corresponding technologies and form their own startup company. For more information about the competition, visit the Proteus website.
