After being nominated for two Google Premier Partner Awards, Northern Commerce took home the award for Growing Businesses Online for their expertise in “helping clients get online, stay online, and grow online”, demonstrated through their work with West Coast Kids. We asked Corey Dubeau, VP Marketing, for his thoughts on the digital agency’s growth and future with this prestigious win in the books.
What does winning a Google Premier Partner Award mean to Northern?
Being recognized for such a prestigious award is a testament to the amazing work our team is doing here at Northern. Considering there are over 7,000 Google Partners, and only 6 winners in North America, we consider this to be an incredible achievement.
“Growing Businesses Online” is a powerful category to receive such recognition. What was the “secret sauce” that helped you bring the award home this year?
The award category itself was actually quite fitting. We are a Growth Agency that primarily works with online retailers, so it is something that we live and breathe every day. I think a large factor that allowed us to have such a drastic impact on our client’s growth was the fact that we had a hand in just about every aspect of their online retail ecosystem. From the UX design and implementation of their commerce platform, to their performance advertising and post-purchase retention strategy, we have helped them to develop a refined digital strategy focused on growth.
London’s entrepreneurs in the digital space are sure to be looking up to your win as a source of inspiration. What kind of advice do you have for these tech entrepreneurs growing their businesses?
I wish there was a one-size-fits-all “secret” I could share, but at the end of the day, I think it just comes down to putting in the work and using your time effectively. It is easy to get caught up in exciting, new ideas and ways of hacking growth, when more often than not these ideas become distractions. Focus on one or two important initiatives at a time, and see them to completion. It’s the last 10% of a task that usually takes 90% of the work, and this is usually where people give up. If you can find a way to get past that hurdle, you will be in a great position for success.
This award represents a great success milestone. Where to next?
Northern is still growing quite rapidly and there does not appear to be any signs of slowing down. With recognition like this award, it only helps to further fuel that growth, especially in an international setting. Our goal is to continue heading upmarket and bring on larger clients while continuing to develop our extremely talented team.
