TechAlliance and Fanshawe College will collaborate to provide high-tech mobile devices and entrepreneurial mentorship to students in the School of Contemporary Media.
TechAlliance will be providing access to business advisors, industry leaders, and community events in the school’s downtown campus in addition to supplying smartphones and tablets for the school’s new device lab.
“The mobile device lab is a great new resource that will benefit Fanshawe’s students, and the tech community as a whole,” says Marilyn Sinclair, President and CEO of TechAllliance. “Our new collaboration will make it easier for student entrepreneurs to start companies, create jobs, and boost the city’s economy.”
Fanshawe students will be able to use devices in the lab to develop mobile applications and other projects. With access to business advisors and entrepreneurial experts, students who aspire to turn their ideas and projects into businesses will have the support to do so without ever leaving the classroom.
TechAlliance’s Startup Services team will guide interested students through idea development, business model review, and commercialization. Students will also have access to go-to-market strategies, funding opportunities and strategic partnerships through the TechAlliance team.
“TechAlliance, its member companies and Fanshawe students have already had several project relationships,” says Dana Morningstar, Chair of Fanshawe’s School of Contemporary Media. “Now our 3D Animation and Character Design, Interactive Media and Information Technology programs will hold joint events at the new centre, bring in guest speakers and advisors, and share expertise to grow and commercialize student capstone projects.”
